BOSSIER CITY, LA - Betty Jo “Granny Jo” Price Raney, born September 25, 1936 in Port Gibson, MS and grew up in her early years in Philadelphia, MS before her family moved to Bossier City. She passed away Friday, May 8, 2026 surrounded by family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 4:00PM at Centaur Den 351 Aero Drive in Shreveport, LA 71107 Rev. Ray Raney, special nephew officiating the service starting at 4:30PM.
She attended Bossier High School class of 1955 as a Bearcat hanging out with her friends.
She worked for Dr. Charles H. Goben Dental Practice for over 20 years as a dental assistant.
In her early years, she was a member of Beta Sigma Pi sorority Bossier City
Jo looked forward each summer attending The Neshoba County Fair-Mississippi’s Giant House party. She was the “Queen” of Fair Cabin #235.
She was a member of the Krewe of Centaur Mardi Gras parade participant for many years in her 70’s.
Jo, Co Owned several businesses with her late husband, Charles Edward Raney in Bossier City, Barksdale Hardware and Locker Room Sports Bar.
She loved life and never met a stranger. She has friends that she has had since grade school. One of her favorite pastimes were her Bossier High School reunion weekly dinners with her classmates.
Preceded in death, father, Custus Alexander Price, mother, Grace Elizabeth Liggett Price, Sister, her fraternal twin, Bobbie Jean Price Peters, her brother-in-law, Salvatore Paul “S.P.”Peters and her husband of 50 years Charles Edward Raney; son-in-law David Justin Elms
She is survived by children, Rick Raney and wife Patty Lancaster Raney, of Bossier City, Virginia Adaz “Cissy” Raney Bullock and husband Jim Bullock, of Bossier City, Laurie Raney Elms Keller, TX and Custus Edward "Skeeter" Raney of Bossier City, grandchildren, Tanner Raney, Landon Raney, Bradden Bullock, Jaimee Bullock Mercer and husband Kyle, Kristen Elms Griffin and husband Matt, Mallory Elms Pumphery and husband Matt (Pump) and Clare Raney and fiancé Mason Little, and numerous great grand children. And beloved 4 legged roommate, Ella Mae. She is also survived by Brother in law Jimmy Raney and his wife, Marie and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Scott Boniol and the staff of Riverview Care Center. And special friend Sheree Ross who spent many days visiting/calling.
