Doris S McQuery passed on May 1, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on October 21, 1933, in Virginia to John and Dovey Short.
Doris lived in Wilmington, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years: Gene McQuery.
She is survived by her 3 children: Michael McQuery (Barbara), Jean Ellis (Greg), and Debbie McQuery (Harold), and a granddaughter: Darcey Tinga (Will).
She was a secretary for the New Hanover County Board of Education for 25 years and was the first to computerize the school budget, the first female deacon at Masonboro Baptist Church and was an accomplished seamstress and quilter.. She was known for her sense of humor.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Sunrise Mausoleum at Oleander Memorial Gardens, located at 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina 28409, US, on May 5, 2026, at 11:00 am with Pastor Wes Hunter officiating.
