Edwin Randolph Dresser, 84, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 19, 2026. A devoted husband, loving father, and servant of Christ, Edwin lived a life marked by steadfast commitment to service and an abiding love for his family.
Born in Dallas, Texas, on August 4, 1941, to Cecil and Rosella (Faulkner) Dresser, Edwin was raised with the hardworking values that shaped his strong sense of duty. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School while also working at Metzger’s Dairy in the community.
Edwin attended the University of Texas at Austin before answering the call to serve his country. He joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving four years, primarily in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1964. After returning home, he completed his Bachelor’s degree at Dallas Baptist University, strengthening both his education and his Christian foundation.
On January 29, 1966, Edwin married the love of his life, Olinda Killough. Together they built a home rooted in faith, love, and service. Their 60 year marriage was marked by devotion, partnership, and a shared commitment to raising their family. Early in their marriage, Edwin and Olinda were members of Fruitdale Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon. For the past 51 years, he and his family were members and worshiped at First Baptist Church at the Fields in Carrollton.
Edwin dedicated over four decades of faithful service to the Dallas Police Department, serving from 1964 until his retirement in 2005 as a Sergeant in the Northwest Division. He was respected for his fairness, calm leadership, and unwavering commitment to protecting the community he loved. He worked long hours and carried out his duties with diligence, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility. Never one to stop serving, he also volunteered on the security detail at First Baptist Church Carrollton.
Above all, Edwin cherished his family. He is survived by his children: Rosemary (Vernon) Yow, David (Amy) Dresser, Jason (Katie) Dresser, and John Dresser; and by his beloved grandchildren: Jacob, James, John, Carissa, Anika, Lucas, Elia, Tyler, Travis, and great-grandchild Graham, each of whom brought him great joy. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife of 60 years, Olinda.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 8, at Laurel Land Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Edwin’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 9, at First Baptist Church at the Fields in Carrollton, Texas, with Dr. Brent Taylor presiding. A private graveside service will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery.
Edwin’s life was a testimony to faith, family, and service. His legacy endures in the lives he touched, the example he set, and the family he loved so deeply. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10). “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men… for you are serving the Lord Christ” (Colossians 3:23–24).
