On October 16, 1955, in the small country town of Rotan, TexasA bouncing baby boy was born to Sylvia June Battle. She namedHim Harold Gene Williams. Gene received his education in theLorenzo Independent School District. After graduating from highschool, he proudly entered the United States Army, serving hiscountry with honor. At an early age, he accepted the Lord JesusChrist as his Savior and was baptized at Mount Pleasant BaptistChurch. After his military service, Gene married Darlene Reed,and three children were born from this union: Harold GeneWilliams Jr. (“Little Gene”), Sheree Williams, and LynetteWilliams. In 1988, Harold relocated to El Paso, Texas, where hemet his life partner, Josie Loftus. He lovingly raised Josie’s fourchildren as his own. Gene was the proud owner and operator ofhis own trucking company. Though he spent many hours on theroad, he treasured time with family above all else. Harold Genewas preceded in death by his mother Sylvia June Williams,stepfather Willie Lee, son Harold “Little Gene” Williams Jr.,and brother Harold Ray Williams (“Pitnee”).
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Josie Loftus Williams;brothers Roger Battle (Joyce) and Arthur Ray Battle; sisterWillie Fay Williams; daughters Lynette Williams, Sheree Williams,and Raven West; stepchildren Joseph, Tracey, and Angela; elevengrandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces,nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday May 14, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm with a funeral service at 12:00 pm at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 North Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas 79936. A Graveside Service will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, Texas 79906, on May 14, 2026.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Baker, Joseph Baker Jr., Anthony Ybarra, Julian Alexander Orozco, Shane Becher, and Abel Orozco.
