Herman Roger Arthur Devriese

On May 1st, 2026 we sadly said goodbye to our father Herman Roger Arthur Devriese. After a long and healthy life he passed away at the age of 95.

He now joins his Predeceased wife, Maria Therrisa Houwelyckx, and is survived by his loving children, Ida (Roger Rodrigues), Peter (Zenko Takei) and Van (Andrea Grise) along with his Grandchildren, Anya Rodriguez (Adam Hadeed), Jason Rodrigiez (Nicola Scott), Nathan Rodriguez and Jessica Devriese. In addition, his great grandchildren, Harrison, Holden and Hugh. Dad also took great pride in his extended family through Zenko: Daughter Nahori (Kaito) and their children Keiju and Hanna as well as her Son Yusuke and his wife Ayuka. He was loved by them all.

After marrying mom in Belgium, the two emigrated to start a new life in Canada. Their journey took them across the map, with time spent in Elliot Lake, Sept-îles, and Thetford Mines along with several years in Germany and Tunisia. They eventually moved to the family cottage – a home they built – and enjoyed their years there until mom’s passing. Every winter, they could be found in Trinidad and Tobago, enjoying the sun and precious time with Ida and the family.

Mom always said to not worry about Dad, as he has had a great life and would be around for a long time because he never stressed anything. So true. He travelled the world multiple times, ate well, enjoyed a drink, and together they raised a strong family doing it their way.
