Ian passed away peacefully at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 95, surrounded by his children. He lived a wonderful life in his home in the community of Highwood for 71 years, 69 of those years spent with his loving wife, Flo. Their home was always a welcoming place for family, friends, and neighbours.
Ian worked in the lumber and building supplies business and was highly respected in the days when your word meant everything.
After retiring, Dad loved sitting in the sun on his deck, sometimes with a beer in hand, or taking care of his beautiful yard and garden. He was also a huge sports fan and enjoyed watching his favourite teams play hockey, baseball, and football. He was just a nice person to be around.
Ian is lovingly remembered by his three children: Bill (Tara), Debbie (Ken), and Marilyn (Doug); four grandchildren: Scott, Samantha, Kelsey and Bradey; and three great grandchildren: Alexis, Avery and Elliot.
Ian was predeceased by his wife Flo in 2023, his daughter Cheryl Patricia, and his brother Ron Brown.
Ian will be laid to rest with Flo at a later date.
