Jackie Dale Ward

Jackie “Jack” Dale Ward, 73, passed away on May 7, 2026. He was born on October 17, 1952, in Austin, Texas, to Everett and Margaret Ward.

Jack was the youngest of six children. He remained deeply devoted to his family throughout his life.

Though Jack never had children of his own, he absolutely adored his nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were his own. He never failed to spend time with them when given the chance.

Jack had one of the biggest hearts around. He was always willing to help others, often putting everyone else ahead of himself. He lovingly cared for his parents and loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Margaret Ward; his sister, Sue Wilkins; his brother-in-law, Cliff Shirley, and his niece, Jennifer Larson.

Jack is survived by his siblings, Richard Ward and wife Sandra, Fran Shirley, Malcolm Ward and wife Judi, and Kenneth Ward; nieces and nephews, Kathi Walker, Cheri Shible, Stephanie Parker, Keith Ward, Jeff Ward, Jonathan Ward, Robin Arrowwood, and Andrea Priest; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be 4pm-6pm Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.

Graveside service will be 10am Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
