James “Jim” Franklin Durst, 89 of Louisville, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026. He was born December 26, 1936 to the late Howard and Edna Durst of Quecreek, PA. He served in the United States Air Force. After the military, Jim went on to have a career in sheet metal. He was proud of his 60 years of service with the Sheet Metal Local 110.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years: Ada K. Durst; and his daughter: Traci R. Garner.
Left to cherish his memory are his son: Howard Durst (Cindy); grandchildren: James Durst, Sarah Durst, Brooke Shreves (Todd), Samantha Flowers (Robert); his great-grandchildren: Cooper Durst, Carter Durst, Caroline Durst, Nevaeh Riddell, Nolin Shreves, and Kylie Shreves.
The family would like to extend a sincere, heartfelt thanks to the staff of Glen Ridge Health for their care and kindness.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218.
