Our beloved father, Jin Taek Kim, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on May 4, 2026.
He was born on June 7, 1939, in Dongducheon, South Korea to Hanyoung Kim and Gannan Choi.
Jin devoted his life to his family, raising his children with love and patience. He graduated from Konkuk University Law School, and was the first in his family to receive an advanced degree.
Jin lost his father as a child, endured difficult times as a young teen during the Korean war and later helped to support his siblings and family with his education.
He enjoyed gardening and the beauty of nature, often taking peaceful walks with his wife.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joung Hee Kim, his two sons Harry Kim (Yumi Kim) and Stennis Kim (Jinah Kim), as well as his adopted daughter Hyon Kyoung NamKung (David Namkung). His memory will be forever cherished by his grandchildren Miri, John, Matthew, Luke, Kate, Ben, Jenny, Daniel and Gloria.
A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew Kim Korean Catholic Church, 21177 Halsted Rd, Northville, MI 48167; on May 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
