John Wesley Kemp, 77, of Gun Barrel City, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026.
Born on August 17, 1948, in Fresno, California. John was the son of the late Marcy Kemp and Edith Gordon.
John proudly served in the United States Army and retired after 26 years of dedicated service. He was a Vietnam Veteran who carried great pride in serving his country.
In his free time, John enjoyed barbecuing, playing pool, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and the love he had for those closest to him.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cindy Kemp.
John is survived by his daughter Amanda Davenport and husband, Jason; his son Richard Kemp and wife, Roxanne; and his beloved grandchildren Laney Davenport, Riley Davenport, Tatum Davenport, Hayley Kemp, Conner Kemp and Jeffrey Kemp.
John will be laid to rest at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
