Julia V. Lujan

Julia Lujan passed away peacefully in her home on May 8, 2026 at the age of 93.

Julia was born in Marfa, TX, the fifth of nine children to Ysabel and Elena Vasquez. She attended the segregated school of Blackwell in Marfa, TX. She lived through food rationing and the POW camps of her town during WWII. After the death of her mother, her father brought the youngest siblings to El Paso, TX. There she met and married Alfonso Lujan who preceded her in death. They developed a strong partnership that flourished for over 60 years.

Julia is survived by her children: Imelda Lujan(Shawn), Gloria Lujan, Laura Dominguez (Rene) and Samuel Lujan; four grandchildren (Michael, Aaron, Marisa, and Angela)and four great grandchildren (Nya, Dominic, Noah, and Ellie). She provided daycare to her grandchildren who fiercely protect and love their grandmother. Family was everything to her. She kept an immaculate home, served daily hot meals, and met the needs of all her family. Julia enjoyed quilting and embroidery. She gifted quilts to all her children and spread them to other family and friends.

Julia led an active life, traveled with her husband, and enjoyed music and dancing. Perseverance, strength, and faith can be attributed to her longevity.

We thank God for keeping her in our lives so long. We thank the professionals placed in our path, especially Dr. Famatigan, Dr. Han, Dr. Aloba, Well-Med Palative Care, Altomar Home Health, and Remarkable Hospice. We thank the special people in those agencies that saw us through. A Vigil will be held on May 15, 2026, at 07:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home 1060 North Carolina Drive. Funeral Mass will be at San Antonio Catholic Church, 503 Hunter Dr. on May 16 at 9:00am, with the gravesite service at 10:30am at Mt Carmel Catholic Cemetery, 401 S.Zaragoza.
