Lorraine Mary Kowal

Lorraine Mary Kowal (née Weidner) of New York City passed away in April 2026 at the age of 76. Born on March 15, 1950 and raised on New York's Upper East Side in the vibrant neighborhood of Yorkville, Lorraine was a true New Yorker in every sense of the word.

Lorraine received her early education at St. Joseph School of Yorkville and attended Julia Richman High School. Her career spanned several fields including real estate, administrative work and supervisory roles, though her greatest and most cherished role was caring for her beloved family and home.

A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Lorraine was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Good Council where she attended mass regularly. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and a source of great strength and comfort to her and those around her.

Lorraine was known and loved for her infectious smile, her outgoing and fun-loving spirit and her tremendous love of laughter. She had a gift for bringing joy and energy to every room she entered. She loved to dance, loved to party with friends and family and had a deep passion for music — particularly the Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley. She cherished attending concerts in the park with her friends and created countless joyful memories doing what she loved most — celebrating life with the people she loved.

At home Lorraine was equally passionate, and her family and friends always looked forward to her remarkable holiday decorating which transformed her home into a warm and festive celebration each and every season.

Lorraine is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Kowal; her devoted daughter Stacy Kowal; her stepchildren Joseph Kowal and Colleen Kowal; and her cherished step-grandchildren Kera and Jack.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother **Kathleen Weidner ** and her dear father George Weidner.
