Michael Anthony Melchiorre

Michael Anthony Melchiorre, known to many as “Big Mike,” 54, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away suddenly on April 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, creativity, service, and faith.

Michael is survived by his loving spouse, Paulette; his children, Nick, Anthony, Hannah (Jeff), and Amber (Michael); and his grandchildren, Samson, Rosemary, and baby Oliver, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his mother, Annie Love, and his sister, Melanie Clark (Michael) and his nieces and nephews of Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Joseph Melchiorre; Uncle Michael “Mickey” Melchiorre, his stepfather, John Love; and his birthmother, Lynne Davis.

Michael was born On April 13, 1972 in Heath, Ohio and graduated from Heath High School, Class of 1990 where he sang in the choir, performed in the marching band playing the trumpet, showcased his acting abilities in the theater, and was a star on the basketball court. He then went on to attend Ohio State University and West Liberty State College, graduating in 1994, where he was a member of the men’s basketball team. He was also a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and The Ohio State Buckeyes, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his teams.

A proud United States Marine, Michael served with Lima Company 0311 out of Columbus, Ohio, earning the rank of Private First Class and qualifying as a marksman. He was honorably discharged before beginning the next chapter of his life in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Michael found his calling in education as a middle school science teacher at Archer Lodge Middle School in Johnston County, North Carolina. He took pride in teaching and made a lasting impact on many of his students.

Musically and artistically talented, Michael loved singing karaoke—especially songs by Garth Brooks and David Allen Coe—and enjoyed golfing, comedy shows, and sharing laughter with those around him. He had a quick wit and a sense of humor that people won’t forget.

He found strength and peace in his faith in Jesus Christ, which remained an important part of his life.

Michael will be remembered as a husband, father, grandfather, educator, and friend. Those who knew him will remember his laughter, his music, and the moments of joy he brought into their lives.

To his sons, Nick and Anthony, he leaves behind pieces of himself that will always remain—through shared traits, memories, and the quiet connections that time can never take away.
