Sam Dray Edery

in Paperman & Fils

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sam Dray Edery. He passed away peacefully in his hometown, the city he loved, Marrakech, on the morning of April 7.

Sam was a man of great kindness, goodness, and generosity. He leaves an irreplaceable void within his family and within the Montreal Jewish community. He was a seasoned community leader who leaves an indelible mark on his community. He was devoted to his Nahar Shalom community, as well as to the CSUQ and all of its affiliated organizations. All who crossed his path were touched by his kindness and compassion. He wore his heart on his sleeve and showed warmth and affection to everyone he encountered. He was also a devoted, caring, and loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather who deeply believed in shalom.

He is survived by his wife, Lucie; his children, Ilana (Mike Amar) and Mark (Jessica Marcus); his grandchildren, Eden, Ness, Anaelle, Levi, Liya, Mika, Liev, and Lior; his sisters, Vera Assouline (Henri) and Viviane Hazan (Salomon); and his brother, Michel (Linda). He will also be deeply missed by his friends, nieces and nephews, their families, as well as his aunts and cousins in Montreal, Toronto, Paris, Florida, and Israel. The family would like to sincerely thank all those, near and far, who helped them navigate the administrative burden with the Moroccan authorities.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, April 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Burial at Memorial Park Section, Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva will be held at his home.
