Homer Edward Conrad Jr.

Homer Edward Conrad Jr. passed on May 9, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1924 in Ft. Wayne, IN, the son of the late Homer E.Conrad Sr. and Beulah Conrard.

Homer led an extraordinary life filled with service and craftsmanship. A proud veteran, Homer served in the Air Force, where he developed a deep passion for aviation. He fondly recalls riding in the back of planes, a thrilling experience that reinforced his admiration for the military and his dedication to protecting his country.

Beyond his military career, Homer had an incredible talent for woodworking. Whether crafting trucks, airplanes, or intricate designs, he took pride in building creations with his own hands. His craftsmanship not only brought him joy but also allowed him to share his passion with others. His skill for working with wood was matched only by his enthusiasm for spending time outdoors.

Homer shared a long and meaningful marriage with his late wife, Violet. Their relationship was defined by deep affection and shared adventures. One of their favorite pastimes was spending time on the lake, where Homer took great joy in water skiing. As Violet expertly navigated their boat, Homer would glide across the water with precision, embracing the thrill and freedom of the moment. Home was often seen doing turns behind the boat on his disk until 92 years of age.

Homer and Violet raised a wonderful family togher and his son, Larry and daughter-in-law, Kay continued to be a source of love and support until the very end.

He is survived by son, Larry (Kay) Conrad; grandchildren, Alan Conrad and Amy Conrad; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Samuel and Rose.

Funeral service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, May 14, 2026 with calling 2 hours prior at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.

Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN.
