Margaret Ann was born on July 25, 1935 to Henry Freeman Arnold and Liddie Bell Arnold in College Station. She grew up one of ten children at her family home in College Station, where Central Park is now located. Margaret Ann attended Rock Prairie Baptist Church while growing up and it was there that she accepted Jesus Christ into her life. She thoroughly enjoyed her years at A&M Consolidated, graduating in 1953. She was involved in many activities and was a cheerleader for the Tigers. Margaret Ann was a member of Central Church and her strong Baptist convictions stayed with her throughout her life.

After High School, Margaret Ann married Jimmie Weedon, the father of her children Michelle and Jimbo. They were married 19 years. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Barney Mauro whom she married in 1974. During her time as a single mother, she quickly became an entrepreneur and opened Bluebonnet Employment Service in 1973, later expanding this business to a second office in Arlington, Texas. After she and Barney were married they opened The Jewelry Store in 1975. Barney had a love for jewelry and gemstones and Margaret Ann loved selling jewelry and building lasting relationships with her customers. She helped many students acquire their engagement rings when they had a limited budget and some of these have remained customers for decades. She also counseled people across the jewelry counter in matters of faith, love and employment. The Jewelry Store has remained an institution in Bryan for over 50 years. Many people still relate to Margaret Ann and her vivacious personality even though it has passed down to the next two generations.

Margaret Ann loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and spoke of her faith to others throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her roses. She loved cooking homestyle food for her family and playing bridge, being in many bridge clubs over the years. Margaret Ann taught bridge in Community Education in College Station when she was younger. After Christ, her deepest love was for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she spent a great deal of time with them. Her love of Aggie football brought so much excitement to her life from attending the 1968 Cotton Bowl to watching or listening to games as long as she was able.

Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her son, Jimbo Weedon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Mauro, her brothers, Milton Arnold, John Arnold, Bill Arnold, Aubrey Arnold and James Arnold; her sisters, Marjorie Eimann, Mary McCulloch and Jane Pate. Also, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

She leaves behind her daughter, Michelle Colwell and Michelle’s husband, Robby, of Bryan; her grandchildren, Chase Colwell and his wife, Jaimie of Bryan and Taylor Paul Colwell and his wife, Charlene of Babbitt, Minnesota; her great grandchildren, Sophia (Sage) Colwell and Addie Colwell of Bryan and Hayden Colwell of Olathe, Kansas. Margaret Ann’s family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to Tykesha Jeffrey and Rhonda Dunn who have lovingly cared for her and also Glenisha Monroe-Hanley; many nurses with Avir (formerly St. Joseph Manor) and Hospice of Brazos Valley, especially Bay and Terri. It has taken a village and these angels have been our saving grace.
