Ruby Maxine Teel

Ruby Short Teel, 95, of Columbia, Missouri passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 29, 2026, at The Neighborhoods by Tiger Place in Columbia, MO.

Ruby was born on October 5, 1930, in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Homer C. Short and Kathryn Hopson Short, whom both preceded her in death. At age 3, with her parents and two sisters, she moved to Arrow Rock, Missouri. She married Carson Teel on October 30th, 1950, at Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia. They were married 59 years.

Ruby lived most of her life in Boone County, where she raised her three children. She worked for many years at the University of Missouri Print Shop. She volunteered at Boone Hospital for 17 years and many years at The Wardrobe. She was a member of the Olivett Christian Church.

Ruby leaves behind a son, Michael Teel and wife Suzie of Sturgeon, MO; son-in-law, Kenneth Jones; daughter-in-law Jeanne Peterson; sisters-in-law Shirley Sapp & Ann Teel, grandchildren, Brooksie Teel, Jessica Cobb (Zane), Clayton Jones (Becky), Caleb Jones (Lindsey), Lacey Jones Hensley (Levi) and Lindsey Jones; great-grandchildren, Carter, Chloe, Maxwell, Charleston, Tyger, Edie, Zander, Finley, Tate, and Boden, Theodore, Benjamin

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Teel, two children, Pamela Jones and Kent Teel; her sisters, Geraldine Sapp and Eva benedict; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
