PEKIN ~ Gary Albert Bloom, 69, of Pekin, passed away at 9:19 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2026, at Carle Health Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on February 6, 1957, in Peoria, son of Albert and Jean (Roth) Bloom. Gary married Rebecca Strowmatt on December 16, 1978, in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Jennifer (Patrick) Bloom – King of North Pekin; son, Nick Bloom of Bloomington; grandson, Garrett; two brothers, Ron Bloom of Washington and Kent (Jeni) Bloom of Sandwhich; and one niece, Sheila Bloom.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
He worked at Komatsu in Peoria for 38 years as a Crane Operator before retiring in May of 2015.
Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, Duck’s Unlimited and Kennel Lake, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandson and family. Gary was a devoted father, grandpa and husband.
Cremation Rites have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home & Crematory Pekin Chapel. There are no services scheduled.
