Juliette Mireille Shawi Hamid

in Voluntas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juliette Mireille Shawi Hamid on April 1st, 2026. She was a remarkable woman whose warmth and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A woman of immense strength and joy, Juliette faced life’s challenges with grace. Despite losing her eyesight at the age of 50—while pursuing her Master’s in Nursing at the Université de Montréal and serving as a Head Nurse at St. Anne’s Veterans Hospital—she never allowed her circumstances to dim her spirit. She will be remembered for her love of singing, dancing, and laughter, and for the many winters she cherished in Florida.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Sam; her children, Nader (Laura) and Karim (Syrena); and her beloved grandchildren, Noah, Julia, Atlas, and Journey.

Juliette will be deeply missed by the many communities and friendships she nurtured over the years, including her lifelong Girl Scout friends, her many nursing colleagues, the Beaconsfield Women’s Club, her fellow snowbirds at the Treasure Island Yacht and Tennis Club, the supportive community at the Montreal Association for the Blind, the Dragon Boat Club, and the many others she inspired, touched, and laughed with throughout her life.
