Maryann Christiana Montour (née Dreas)

After a long battle with colorectal cancer, at the Kateri hospital, on May 7th, 2026 at the age of 79 years old, Mrs. Maryann Montour of Kahnawake, wife of the late Mr. Michael T. Montour passed away peacefully.

Mrs. Montour was a proud graduate of Concordia and McGill Universities, where she studied Anthropology and Archaeology. She loved debate, books, wildlife (especially birds) and remote wildland locations.

A devoted mother, she is survived by her children William (Bill), Wendy, Drew and Heath, her 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, her sister Nancy Schaeffer, her brother-in-law Thomas Montour, as well as 5 nieces, 1 nephew, and other family and dear friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday May 23, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at the Poissant & Deer location in Kahnawake, followed by words and tributes from the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. If you wish to offer flowers, the family request wildflowers, as those were her favorites.
