Carlo Gurunlian, CPA

dans Services Funéraires Komitas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carlo Gurunlian, a pillar of our family and an icon of the community.

Grounded yet light-hearted, Don Carlo proudly worked as a Chartered Accountant from the time he took his oath in 1963. His decades of hard work were spent in his office where clients placed unwavering trust in his expertise, always with classical music playing in the background. When he could no longer fly single-engine planes over the countryside, he actively promoted awareness of the Armenian Genocide in honour of his cherished parents. He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, shrewdness, and sound judgment.

Despite suffering from knee pain in the last decade of his life, he enjoyed his final years at home and in comfort with his wife, making us laugh and sharing stories of his childhood in Italy.

He passed away, blessedly without any pain, on March 13, 2026 with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Vilma Derbekyan, and his three children Ani, Tamar, and Charles Gurunlian.

He will be deeply missed, and never replaced.

A private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carlo’s memory to Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral, Holy Cross Armenian Church of Laval, Bolsahay Montreal.
