March 13, 1939 – April 17, 2026

Sally “Selma” Reis Rothman was born on March 13, 1939, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Gus and Ruth Reis. She was the younger sister of Henrietta, who played a profound role in Sally’s life. Henrietta lovingly took care of Sally from an early age and remained a steady source of strength, comfort, and guidance throughout her life—a person Sally leaned on and deeply cherished.

Sally later moved with her family to Orlando, Florida, where she spent her middle and high school years. After graduating, she moved to New York to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. It was there that she met the love of her life, Charles Rothman. They married in March of 1965 and soon began building a family together.

Sally and Charles welcomed two children, a daughter, Alyssa, and a son, Marc. Marc later married Lyn, and together they gave Sally the joy of becoming a grandmother to two grandsons who loved her dearly and brought great happiness to her life; Reis and Brett.

Sally devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children, primarily in New Jersey, with a memorable two-year stint in Chattanooga, Tennessee. For nearly twenty years, she was a full-time homemaker, creating a warm and loving home grounded in care, devotion, and quiet strength.

In the 1990s, Sally embraced a new chapter when she became a co-owner of a Hallmark store, running the business with family. She took pride in her work and in bringing joy to others through thoughtful details and meaningful connections.

After retiring, Sally and Charles moved to South Florida, where they spent most of their retirement years together. They enjoyed playing golf and the simple comforts of life. During this time, Sally also found great joy in crocheting blankets and hot pads. She generously gave her handmade hot pads freely to family, friends, loved ones and some to those she hardly knew at all, sharing her warmth in the most tangible and heartfelt way.

Sally will be remembered for her gentle, shy nature and her ever-present smile. She expressed love through baking—especially her treasured pie dough, sugar, and and molasses cookies – plus her beloved apple pie —and through the quiet, generous ways she cared for those around her. She also delighted in collecting clowns, a whimsical reflection of her subtle joy and tender spirit.

Above all, Sally was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a kind soul whose presence brought calm and sweetness to everyday life. Her memory will live on through the traditions she kept, the handmade gifts she so freely gave, and the deep love she shared with her family.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
