From Gracefield, Aurele passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at the age of 94.
He was the beloved son of late Philibert Bertrand and Emelia Courchenes.
He was a devoted father and is lovingly remembered by his four children: Jean-Yves (Line), Normand (Bonnie), Nathalie (Dan), and Julie.
A proud grandfather, he leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren: Melissa (Pascal), Travis-James, Melanie, Tobie-Jean (Ryan), Christopher, Lyndsay, Mateo (Keyana), Angelo, and Alexandre. He was also very proud of being the great grandfather to 10 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense happiness to his life.
He is also survived by his brother, Rodolph, and his sister, Germaine. He is predeceased by his many brothers and sisters.
He is predeceased by his sons, Marc Aurele and Michel, as well as by the mother of his children, Evelyne Crites.
He was a proud retired Ironworker with Local 765. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing, four-wheeler rides with his grandchildren, and hunting trips with many family members. His warmth, strength, and love for family will always be remembered.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of La Belle Époque Residence in Maniwaki, as well as the staff at CHSLD de Gracefield, for their kindness and compassionate care. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Mendoza, whose compassion, thoughtfulness, and grace brought comfort to him and the family during his final days.
A religious service will be held at La Visitation Church in Gracefield, Quebec, on June 13, 2026. The family will be available for condolences as of 10:30 am and the service will begin at 11:00 am.
