Cecelia L. (Dennis) Brusnahan Hunt

13 mai 2026 Linton, Quebec Dignity Memorial

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Cecelia (Dennis) Brusnahan Hunt, who died peacefully on May 13, 2026, at the age of 96.

Born on September 13, 1929, Cese (aka Sassy) lived a full life centered around family, friendship, faith, and service to others. She had an adventurous spirit and a deep curiosity about the world, traveling to 76 countries throughout her lifetime. Whether she was hosting friends, enjoying a game of bridge, or treasure hunting at estate sales, she brought warmth, humor, encouragement, and enthusiasm wherever she went.

Cese and Paul Brusnahan married in 1947, making their way to Washington DC in early marriage before returning to Lincoln, owning and operating the Starlite Motel. Paul got busy making a career as a pilot and Cese took care of their 6 children. Life soon took them to a farm that was more about opening Denton’s only airport. Cecelia’s entertaining never stopped. From a farm to table luau with a homegrown pig to countless dinner parties, her social skills never waned. Grandkids will always remember dining room lunches served with potato chips in crystal bowls.

After Paul’s death in 1977, she was fortunate to meet and marry the sweetest man in Bill Hunt, who shared her love for travel. They were blessed with each other for 42 years.

Cecelia was widely known for her take charge spirit and generosity. Over the years, she baked hundreds of apple pies for charities, friends, and loved ones — a simple act that became one of the many ways she showed care for others. She was an active and devoted member of many organizations in Lincoln, including Mat Talbot Kitchen & Outreach, Friendship Force, the Heritage League, altar societies, and Meals on Wheels. Her faith and commitment to service were constants throughout her life.

Cese is survived by her children Kathy Spahr, Janet Cook (Jeff), Paul Brusnahan (Nida), Peggy Matthews (David), Karen Anderson, and Jill Brusnahan, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, May 16 at 9:30 am. St Mary’s Catholic Church, 1420 K Street, Lincoln. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the restoration of St. Mary’s Church.
