Daryl Eugene Himes

Daryl Eugene Himes, beloved husband, father, and friend to all who knew him, passed away on May 18, 2026, in Forney, Texas. He was 79 years old.

Born on August 2, 1946, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to Dorothy McClay Himes and James R. Himes, Daryl grew up in Franklin, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Franklin High School. It was there that he also found the love of his life, Vicki Himes. He would go on to marry his high school sweetheart, a bond that would last a lifetime.

Daryl answered his country's call and served honorably, spending a year at Cam Ranh Bay during the Vietnam War. After his service, he built a life in Seagoville, Texas, where he settled and worked for Great Dane Trailers for many years.

Daryl was a man of simple, steadfast passions. He had a deep love for trains, tractors, and antique engines, and few things brought him more joy than attending vintage machinery shows. At home, he could often be found watching westerns and cartoons alongside his family — a cherished tradition that those who loved him will hold dear.

He is survived by his son, James Himes (Brandi Fisher) of Forney, Texas; his daughter, Theresa Moreno (Geno Moreno), of Graham, Texas; his grandchildren, Jeanett Porter, Nicholas Moreno, John Himes, and Nathan Himes; his brother, Jimmy Himes, of Franklin, Texas; and his sister, Linda Shutty, of Oil City, Pennsylvania.

Daryl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicki Himes, who passed away exactly one year before him and whom he has now rejoined.

A Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will be held immediately following at Galloway Avenue Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas.
