COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Doris Metz Davis, 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, with visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Davis died Friday, May 1, 2026. Born in Irmo, she was the daughter of the late Walter Archer and Georgia Eula Miller Metz. She graduated from Columbia College. She taught elementary school before she became a full-time homemaker after the birth of her first son. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, baking and watching the Atlanta Braves.
Surviving are her son, Mark D. Davis (Joyce Stover) of Chapin; granddaughter, Bridgette Ann Davis; sister, Lois Amick; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Douglas Davis and her son, Everette Allen Davis.
The family wishes to thank Generations of Irmo and Three Oaks Hospice for their compassionate care. Pallbearers will be Byron Amick, Chad Amick and Walter Onley.
