With love, gratitude, and many cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Marion Bannerman (Mason) at the Valleyfield Hospital on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the age of 89 following surgery.
Marion is reunited with her beloved husband, the late Reverend Gordon Bannerman, her dear son Thomas Bannerman, and her special companion, Norval Blair, with whom she shared many joyful adventures later in life.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughter Vicky (Jennifer Centra), her treasured grandaughters Melisa (Calven Waldner), Cindy (Jered Powell) and Sarah (Jared Ness), her adored great-grandchildren Aaron, Peter, Ever, Leif, Echo and Noah. She is fondly remembered by her brothers John (Rosemary) and Douglas (Elizabeth) as well as Norval's children - Joan, Judy, Sue, Jim, John and Jeff and a wide circle of relatives and friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Marion lived a life defined by independence, curiosity, and resilience. Her professional journey reflected her adaptability and determination - from her early days in a typing pool to her work as a programmer in publishing followed by roles in the insurance sector and with the Core of Engineers where she contributed to monitoring the Mississippi River. Later, after completing secretarial training in Ormstown, she continued to bring her skill and dedication to several administrative roles.
She embraced life with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. Alongside Gordon, she discovered a love of motorcycle travel, embarking on long journeys together and even venturing out on her own riding from Huntingdon to St. Louis to visit friends.
Marion found joy in simple pleasures as well. She was a devoted sports fan, rarely missing a hockey or curling match and always keeping up with baseball during the off-season. Her faith and community were equally important to her; she was a devoted presence at Rockburn Presbyterian Church where she worked tirelessly alongside Gordon for many years.
Her generosity extended beyond her immediate circle. Following her mother's passing, Marion lovingly took on the role of organizing bus trips for seniors - bringing laughter and companionship to many, especially through memorable outings to Morrisburg for comedy plays.
Marion's life was one of movement and discovery. Together, she and Gordon built a life across many places - Elgin, Ottawa, Toronto, Cleveland, St. Louis before returning to Ottawa and ultimately settling in Huntingdon where they built their home. Along the way, they enjoyed travels to Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and throughout Florida creating a lifetime of shared experiences.
Marion will be remembered for her strength, her adventurous spirit, her unwavering devotion to family and community and the warmth she brought into every room. Her life was rich, her journey full and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Visitation will be held May 11th, 2026 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm, at Rodrigue Montpetit & Fils Funeral Home170 Châteauguay St., Huntingdon, Québec, J0S 1H0, 450-264-5331. Private burial at Hillside Cemetery at a later date.Online condolences and tributes may be made at www.rodriguemontpetitfils.com
