Petronila Cuellar Rojas, 103 years old, of Brownsville, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24th, 2026. Born on June 22, 1922,in San Fernando, Mexico, to the late Juan and Petronila Cuellar.
Petronila's father was a cattle rancher and she enjoyed being on the ranch, especially riding her horses. In 1944, she married Amado Calzada and had four children, Enrique, Alicia, Juan Amado and Jose Luis. In 1965 she remarried to the love of her life, Faustino Rojas.
Petronila is survived by her two children, Alicia Wyre, Joe “Jose Luis” Calzada, thirteen grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, two sons, and one grandchild. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Petronila would have been 104 this June.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521 on April 29, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the Chapel Funeral Service at the same location on April 29, 2026, beginning at 12:00 pm.
Burial will take place at Buena Vista Burial Park, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, US, on April 29, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm.
