Richard Garland Leigh, Jr.

Richard G. Leigh Jr., 50, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed unexpectedly at home on April 27, 2026. Rich was born January 6, 1976, to Richard Leigh Sr. of West Virginia and the late Durena Reich. His pride and joy were his two sons, Ryan J. Leigh (22), of the United States Coast Guard, and Rexton Leigh (17), of Lexington, South Carolina. He was a 1994 graduate of Akron-Garfield High School in Akron, OH and received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from DeVry University in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Durena Reich; his brother, Steven Leigh Sr.; his paternal grandmother, Martha Leigh; and his maternal grandparents, Brooks and Mary Collins.

Along with his sons, he is survived by his father, Richard Leigh Sr., of West Virginia; his sisters, Kristena Wanyek (née Leigh) and Erica Reich of Ohio; his paternal grandfather, Garland Leigh of West Virginia; his niece, Karena Leigh of Ohio; and his nephews, Steven Leigh Jr. and Robby Leigh of West Virginia.

Arrangements are being handled by Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. 503 N. Lake Drive, Lexington, SC. Visitation will be held from 4:00–6:00 p.m. Saturday and 2:00–3:00 p.m. on Sunday, with a service immediately following.
