Shirley Anne Pyles

4 mai 2026 Dignity Memorial

Shirley Anne Pyles, a woman known for her immense kindness and generous spirit, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, in Falmouth, Maine. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 25, 1943, to William S. Pyles and Evelyn Ensor, Shirley spent the majority of her career serving with dedication for Judge Joseph Kaplan at the Baltimore Circuit Court.

Though she dearly loved her home in Maryland, Shirley moved to Maine to be closer to her brother, John, and his family. Upon moving, she found a wonderful home and community at Applegate. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was a devoted member of the Foreside Community Church, where the fellowship and support of her fellow church members meant the world to her. She was a tireless volunteer, giving her time generously to the church, the Falmouth Memorial Library, and the College Club.

Shirley was a true world traveler, finding great adventure exploring the globe with various tour groups and close friends. When she wasn't traveling, she found joy at home in her garden, where she was especially proud of growing her lima beans. She lived her life with a quiet grace and a helping hand for anyone in need. While she was an avid shopper who loved the hunt for a great find, her greatest treasures were the moments spent with those she loved and the companionship of her cats, Pebbles and Skye.

She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved brother, John J. Pyles.

Shirley’s memory will be cherished by her niece, Julie Howland; her nephew, James Pyles and his partner, Craig Bellgraph; and her adored great-nephew and great-niece, Rex and Gracie Howland.

A service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 10:30 am at the Foreside Community Church.

A reception will follow, where family and friends are invited to share stories and remember a woman who gave so much of herself to others.
