It is with profound sadness that we announce Stephen’s sudden passing on Monday, March 30, 2026. Steve was a beloved husband of Shari Gershonberg for almost fifty-five years, and her partner and best friend for sixty years. A proud and devoted father and father-in-law of Jason Hecht and Laurie Lewis, Aly Hecht and Lee Brozak. Special brother and brother-in-law of the late Linda Hecht Bogante and Marty Bogante, Joyce and David Bergman; and brother-in-law of Barbara and Marcel Uson. His greatest joy was his role as “Grampy” to Ayla and Hayden whom he treasured and cherished. Adored son of the late Sally and the late Ruby Hecht. Steve will be deeply missed by his extended family and wonderful friends.
Special thanks to the incomparable Dr. Popradi for her commitment and compassion, to Drina for always being available and caring, and to Dr. Skamene just for being the wonderful person she was when it counted. Thanks also to the staff of 10D at the Glen for their support and especially to Madge who ensured we were always comfortable.
