Agatha Guidace was born July 27, 1935 and passed away May 10, 2026.

A private family funeral service will be held at Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park in San Jose, CA, as well as special Catholic Mass in Rome Italy for Agatha (Sebastiani) Guidace, who at the age of 90 passed away peacefully in her sleep early Mother’s Day morning on May 10, 2026.

Agatha was born on July 27, 1935, in a small northern mountain town, Marana di Montereale, Province of L’Aquila, Italy. She was the second child born of the late Pasquale Sebastiani and Emma (Faccenda) Sebastiani. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Giovanni (John) Guidace and Nicolina (Romeo) Guidace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Anthony Guidace, sister Maria Ianiri and brother Mauro Sebastiani.

Agatha came to United States at the age of 19 to accompany her father who was working in Youngstown, Ohio at the time. While living in Ohio, she met and became engaged to Frank (Francesco) Anthony Guidace. Frank was an only child, with numerous first cousins and his family became her family. They married on August 10, 1957. A little over a year later, they moved to San Jose, California and bought their first home together. Frank and Agatha’s family expanded to include a daughter, Lena, a son, John, and a second son, Robert. Agatha proudly became a Naturalized Citizen of the US in February 1963. She was a homemaker while Frank worked. They enjoyed traveling to Italy and going on family vacations and especially time spent with the relatives in San Jose, CA. Tragically, at the age of 38, Agatha became a widow. It was a sad and difficult time, but she was a strong woman and continued to provide a loving, stable home. A few years after her husband passed, she chose to work from home and opened a licensed daycare home. She loved all “her babies” and was happiest when she was caring and playing with them. She retired from her daycare job, a true labor of love, well into her 60’s. Agatha will be missed and dearly remembered as a fun loving, vivacious “hoot” to all who knew her. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will always be remembered for her smiles, hugs and kisses, generosity, positive energy, pasta, luck at the casinos, love of song (she thought she could sing Opera; some say it’s true) and for her love of dancing. Leaving her home in San Jose in late 2017 to move to a retirement community and assisted living facility in Fremont, she especially enjoyed the daily socialization and weekly music performances and dances. She was excited she didn’t yet need a walker and would get asked to sing her Italian songs and dance in her ever-present high heels. In her final months, she continued to sing her most requested song—Quando Quando. In her final days, she always smiled and looked at peace.

Agatha will be missed and dearly remembered by her children, Lena (Eric) Anderson, John (Trisha) Guidace, Robert (Leona) Guidace; her grandchildren, Ricky (Michala) Anderson, Brian Anderson, Michelle (Matt) Everton, Ashley Guidace, Enzo Guidace, Valentina Guidace; her great granddaughters Athena Anderson and Natalie Everton. She also leaves behind her youngest sister Eva Picca, brother-in-law Quinto, and nephews, Paolo and Fabrizio and their families in Rome, Italy, as well as her late brother Mauro’s sons Pasquale and Nicola and their families, and her sister-in-law Olga Sebasiani in Marana, Italy. In Youngstown Ohio, she leaves behind her late sister Maria’s daughters Connie Bermann and Antoniette Herner and families and her brother-in-law Romano Ianiri.

Agatha’s fondest memories were made and spent in the company of family. We will remember her loving ways, and try to make gnocchi like she taught us, as promised.
