We collect the following information depending on the context of use:
2.1 Obituary Submission
- Name of the person submitting the obituary
- Information about the deceased: full name, dates of birth and death, municipality, photograph
- Obituary text
2.2 Condolence Messages
- Author's name
- Email address (optional, not publicly displayed)
- Message content
2.3 Site Browsing
- IP address
- Browser type and operating system
- Pages viewed and visit duration
- Cookie data (see section 5)
3. Purposes of Processing
Your personal information is used for the following purposes:
- Publication and management of obituaries on the Site
- Displaying condolence messages
- Communicating with users regarding their submissions
- Improving user experience and statistical analysis of the Site
- Protection against abuse (anti-spam via Cloudflare Turnstile)
4. Data Retention
Obituaries and condolence messages are retained indefinitely to fulfill the memorial mission of the Site. Browsing data is retained for a maximum period of 12 months.
Any person may request the removal of an obituary or message by contacting us (see section 8).

Under Law 25, you have the following rights:

- Right to deletion: request removal of your information or content concerning you
- Right to portability: receive your data in a structured format
- Right to withdraw consent: at any time for consent-based processing

9. Information of Deceased Persons
Obituaries published on Necrologie.ca contain information about deceased persons. In accordance with the Quebec Civil Code, heirs or legal representatives may request modification or removal of such information.
10. Minors
Necrologie.ca does not knowingly collect personal information from minors under 14 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Policy Changes
We may update this policy periodically. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised update date. We encourage you to review this page regularly.
