Albert G. Carrera, lovingly known as "Bob" to his friends and "Pop" to those who loved him most, passed away peacefully at his home on July 21, 2026, at the age of 85, with the love of his life by his side. He was born on February 21, 1941, in Russell City, California, a community that once stood where Hayward is today.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his second parents; four siblings; his son, David; his granddaughter, Veronica; and his grandson, David J. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Molly; his daughter, Darla; his son, Fernando; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and countless extended family members and friends who were blessed by his love and generosity. He was just three months shy of becoming a great-great-grandfather for the very first time.
Bob was a man of unwavering integrity, quiet strength, and incredible generosity. He spent his life providing for and protecting the people he loved, always putting family first. He began his career with Ford Motor Company in 1960, where he worked until the plant closed in 1983. He then worked at Furnishings 2000 for five years while also beginning his career at NUMMI in 1984. For the first four years, he maintained both jobs simultaneously, working tirelessly to provide for his family. After eighteen years of dedicated service at NUMMI, he retired in 2003, earning numerous perfect attendance awards throughout his career.
Although he worked tirelessly, his greatest joy was always his family. Whether it was camping trips, family gatherings, fixing a child's bicycle in his garage, or simply showing up whenever someone needed him, Bob's love was steady, selfless, and unconditional. Together, Bob and Molly built a home known for its open doors, welcoming heart, and unwavering support for anyone in need. His kindness, loyalty, wisdom, and humility touched generations, and the example he set will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
Bob leaves behind a legacy not measured by accomplishments alone, but by the countless lives he impacted through his compassion, generosity, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
