With hearts full of love and gratitude, the family of Altagracia de la Garza Martínez announces her peaceful passing on June 1, 2026, at the age of 86. She was a woman of profound faith, boundless love, and quiet strength — a light whose warmth touched every life she entered. Above all, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Early LifeAltagracia was born on January 6, 1940, in San Ramón, Guanajuato, Mexico — a small and beloved place she would always carry in her heart. She was raised in Irapuato, Guanajuato, where her roots ran deep and her character was shaped by the warmth of family and community.
Marriage & FamilyOn June 18, 1966, Altagracia entered into the holy sacrament of marriage with Venustiano de la Garza González (1925–1996) in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, music, and the unmistakable scent of a loving mother's home-cooked meals.
From their marriage came five children: René de la Garza (Derrelene), Melissa de la Garza, Gloria de la Garza (Steven Rios), Leticia de la Garza (William J. Hayward), and Sonia de la Garza (David Rodriguez). She poured herself into each of them, shaping them with her wisdom, humor, and unwavering presence.
A Legacy of LoveAltagracia's greatest joy in life was her family, and how gloriously that family grew. She is survived by sixteen beloved grandchildren:De René: Leanna de la Garza, J.R. de la Garza, Cody de la Garza, Kalysta de la Garza, Bianca Ramirez, Alexis Martinez, and Andrew Ortiz.De Melissa: Kenneth Arredondo, Svannah Noles, Alynnah Noles, Donald Noles, and Mia Escamilla.De Gloria: Joshua Garcia, Marina Garcia, and Brisa Rios.De Sonia: Katherine Rodriguez. She was further blessed with ten precious great-grandchildren, each one a continuation of the love she so freely gave: Ezra and Eric Degollado (from Leanna); Luke Anthony Arredondo (from Kenneth); Grayson Garcia (from Joshua); Santiago Gallegos III (from Svannah); Evah, Amelia, Alyviah, Aleyah, and Enzo Hernandez (from Alynnah).
To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was a haven of warmth — the grandmother with the softest hands, the wisest words, the best tamales, tortilla and bean tacos, and the most generous heart. Her presence at every family gathering was a gift that none of them will ever take for granted, and her memory will live on in every one of them.
Farewell, Dear MamáAltagracia de la Garza Martínez leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured — not in years, nor in words, but in the countless lives she touched, the values she passed down, and the love she modeled every single day. She was our anchor, our compass, our home."Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." — Matthew 5:8Until we meet again, rest in the peace you so graciously gave to all of us. We loved you then, we love you now, and we will love you always.
