Amandio Almeida De Sousa

Amandio Almeida De Sousa, age 90 years old, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital surrounded by his loving children on July 8, 2026.

He was born on June 30, 1936 in Vila Franca da Serra, Portugal to Jose and Felismina (Santinho) DeSousa.

Amandio came to America in 1972 with his wife, Annunciata, and their three children from France to be near his family. He worked for Rapid Electric for many years and was a landscaper, which he was very passionate about. He was a very hardworking man and very good supporter. Later years he moved back to Portugal with his wife.

Amandio love spending his free time in the garden planting his vegetables, making wine, making olive oil, visiting his wife at the cemetery and visiting his family.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, all the children would call him vovo.

He is survived by his three children: Bernard De Sousa, Eric De Sousa (Ana) and Christina De Sousa; his grandchildren: Bernie, Samantha, Kevin, Katarina, Michael, Kyle and Bianca; great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Lyla and Eliana; and his grand-dog, Daisy, which he cherished and she cherished him right back. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Olivia Neves; and his brothers: Jose De Sousa, Aquiles Sousa (Lourdes) and Fernando De Sousa (Luisa); as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 year, Annunciata DeSousa; and his parents, Jose and Felismina De Sousa; brothers: Julio De Sousa and Antonio Sousa; and sister, Concecao De Sousa.

His memory will live on in all of us which we will cherish forever. To know him was to love him. He always put a smile on everyone's face.
