Betty Lee Sistare, 82, of Port Lavaca, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that guided her throughout her life.

Born in Ottawa, Kansas, to John and Mildred Harr Ledbetter, Betty Lee lived a life filled with kindness, compassion, and grace. As an elementary school teacher, she devoted many years to nurturing young minds and encouraging generations of students to believe in themselves. She instilled in her students to be lifelong learners. Her caring heart and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Betty Lee found happiness in life's simple pleasures: tending her plants, creating arts and crafts, spending time with family, and reading her Bible. Her strong faith was her anchor and a source of comfort, wisdom, and joy.

She shared 56 beautiful years with her beloved husband, Douglas McLean Sistare. Together they built a life centered on love, family, faith, and treasured memories.

Betty Lee's greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mollee Anne Thiede (Terry); her sister, Trisha Tudor; cousins Denita Keagy Shaw and Larry V. Keagy; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were blessed by her love and encouragement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas McLean Sistare; parents, John and Mildred Harr Ledbetter, and brother, Robert Ledbetter.

She also adored her faithful companions, Bella and Cardee, who never missed an opportunity to curl up beside her and fill her days with comfort and companionship.

A devoted member of Lighthouse Methodist Church, Betty Lee cherished worship, fellowship, and growing in God's Word. Her loving heart, warm smile, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.

While we will miss her deeply, we celebrate a life beautifully lived, a love freely given, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will remain forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas.
