Billy "Bill" Dan Langston, 79, of Lumberton, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026. He was born on April 27, 1947 in Silsbee, Texas, to the late Joe Billy Langston and Dannie Lee (Raimer) Langston.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the renowned 101st Airborne Division. His courageous and honorable service earned him the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device (1960), and the Bronze Star Medal. He carried the values of duty, humility, and patriotism with him throughout his life and remained deeply proud of his military service.
On August 22, 1973, Bill married the love of his life, Della Fay Wendling. Together they built a beautiful life filled with faith, love, and family, sharing nearly 53 wonderful years of marriage and raising two children.
Bill dedicated his career to the oil and gas industry, spending 32 years with Halliburton. He was a hardworking, loyal employee who took great pride in the company he considered family. His Halliburton pride never faded. Even after retirement, it wasn't uncommon to see him at a ballgame wearing his signature red and gray Halliburton overalls. His strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to excellence were qualities that defined both his career and his character.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Bill was a devoted member of Fletcher Emmanuel Church Alive in Lumberton for 25 years. He faithfully served by operating the camera during church services and was known for always having a pocket full of peppermints to share with others. His quiet acts of kindness and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He especially loved attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events and rarely missed a game. Whether he was serving his country, working hard to provide for his family, or supporting the people he loved, Bill gave his whole heart to everything he did.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Della Fay (Wendling) Langston; daughter, Tracy Langston Martin; son, Chad Langston and wife Adrienne; grandchildren, Kirsten Martin Williams and husband Josh, Jace Martin and wife DeAnna, Addison Olatunde and husband Covenant, Branson Langston and fiancée Chandler, and Abram Miranda; great-grandchildren, Micah Williams, Keon Olatunde, Isaiah Martin, and Renah Ayomi Olatunde; brother, Robert Wayne Langston; and numerous other cherished family members and friends. He will be remembered for his love of God, his family, and his country.
