Brenda Gay Nisinger, 79, of Sims, North Carolina, went to be with Jesus peacefully on September 1, 2026.
Brenda was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She spent more than 30 years working as a Controller at Wilson Medical Center, where she was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to the Finance Department.
Everything changed when her grandchildren were born. The greatest joy and pride of Brenda's life was becoming a Grannie. There was nothing she loved more. Her grandchildren brought a new joy and purpose which was her favorite role—being a devoted Grannie who treasured every moment she could spend with them. So much so, that many of the people that she met through school and sports affectionately called her Grannie, too.
Brenda rarely missed an opportunity to attend the sporting events and activities of her grandchildren. Whether they were competing, performing, or now pursuing their careers, she was always there to support them. She was her children and grandchildren's biggest cheerleader and believed in them in everything they did.
Brenda found great joy in spoiling and spending time with her fur-grandbabies, Tatum and Pumpkin.
Brenda will be remembered for her generous heart; her deep love for her brothers, sister, children, and grandchildren; and the way she made those around her feel supported and loved. Although her family will deeply miss her, they are grateful for the countless memories, trips, celebrations, and special moments they were blessed to share with their beloved Grannie.
Brenda is survived by her children, Tommy Davis and his wife, Della, and Aimee Coleman and her husband, Bobby; her beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Alyssa Davis and Madelyn Coleman; and her siblings, David Gay, Dennis Harrell, Danny Gay, and Velma Schmidt.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl (Jack) Gay; her mother, Estelle Gay; her stepmother, Allene Gay; and her brother, Doug Gay.
Her greatest legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and all those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
