With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the memory of Brenda Joyce Grant, who peacefully departed this life on June 4, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born on July 23, 1945, to the late Lizzie Love, Brenda grew up with a strong sense of family, style, and determination. Baptized at a young age, Brenda carried a belief in Jesus throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, Brenda built a successful career through the years, working at Western Electric, Naval Avionics/Raytheon, and Lazarus/Macy’s, where she formed many lasting friendships.

Brenda knew how to enjoy life. She loved traveling to new places, shopping for the perfect find, and listening to music that kept her spirits high. Anyone who knew her also knew she had a gift for putting herself together—she was a sharp dresser who could turn heads simply by walking into a room. Whether she was headed to a family gathering, a shopping trip, or just out and about, she always brought style, confidence, and a little sparkle wherever she went.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, her sister Lois Love, and her brothers Gerald Wayne, Wendell W. Short Sr. (Willie), and husband Joseph Wells III.

She leaves to cherish her memory sisters Norma McLucas (Vincent), Shirley Love-Anderson (Brian), brother James Love, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephew, along with many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched through her kindness, humor, and presence.

While our hearts are saddened by her passing, we find comfort in the many memories she leaves behind—the laughter she shared, the stories she told, the music she enjoyed, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the countless lives she influenced. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also”— John 14:1-3
