Carol Chicoine

August 20, 2026 Gaspé, Quebec HG Division

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished family member, Carol Chicoine, who passed away on August 20, 2026, at the age of 62.

Carol was a woman whose love was felt deeply by everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was kind, caring, thoughtful, and loving. But above all, she was our mother—the heart of our family, the person who loved us unconditionally, and someone whose presence made life feel a little safer, warmer, and more complete.

Carol was immensely proud of her Indigenous culture and carried that pride with her throughout her life. She found joy in creating Indigenous crafts and keeping the traditions and beauty of her culture close to her heart. Through her creativity and the things she made with her hands, she shared a piece of herself and her heritage with those she loved.

She also found happiness in the simple things—playing bingo, listening to music, laughing, spending time with her family, and most of all, being surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Her greatest joy was her family.

Carol was a loving mother to Dale Comeau and Laura-Lee Comeau, and a devoted grandmother to Aidan, Noah, Addy, Ava, and Lacey. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, and the love she had for them will remain a part of them forever.

She taught her children many things, but perhaps the greatest gifts she gave them were the lessons that cannot be measured: how to be independent, how to be strong, and most importantly, how to love deeply.

She taught us that love means showing up.Love means caring.Love means giving of yourself. And love means leaving a piece of your heart with the people you cherish.

There are no words that can truly express how much she will be missed. We will miss her voice, her laughter, her kindness, her hugs, her stories, her presence, and all of the little things that made her who she was. We will miss being able to call her, sit with her, laugh with her, and simply know that she was there.

We will miss everything about her.

Although our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort knowing that the love Carol gave us did not leave with her. It lives on in her children, in her grandchildren, in the traditions she cherished, in the crafts she created, in the music she loved, and in every person whose life she touched.

A mother’s love never truly leaves us.It becomes part of who we are.

Carol, you gave us roots, you gave us strength, and you taught us how to love with our whole hearts. We will carry you with us in everything we do and in every day that comes.

Until we meet again, Mom.We love you. We miss you. And we always will.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever a part of us.

Professional services have been entrusted to the Résidence Funéraire Valère Fortin in Gaspé, a subsidiary of the HG Division network certified Distinction by the Corporation des Thanatologues du Québec and by the Bureau de Normalisation du Québec.
