Carolyn Satterfield Pickett

August 18, 2026 Charette, Quebec Dignity Memorial

Carolyn Pickett went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 after a long battle with dementia. She passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in the Chapel. The service will also be viewable by live stream at https://vimeo.com/event/3529776.

Visitation will take place after the service. Rev. Dr. John Harrill will be officiating. Carolyn was born on December 1, 1936, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Henderson Satterfield and Earlie Teat.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Pickett; her oldest son, Mark Pickett; her brothers; Phillip, Robert, Joe, and Charles; and her sisters, Freida and Betty Lou.

Carolyn was affectionately known as “Maw Maw” to her six grandchildren and later as “Maw Maw Pickett” to her beloved 17 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Since 1959, Carolyn was a dedicated member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and the Love Sunday School class. Her passion was Bible study and intercessory prayer. She prayed fervently for her family members and friends and was a woman whose faith was evident in the way she lived and loved. Carolyn and her husband, Jerry, participated in an in-depth home Bible study taught by Lonnie Palmer, who was a loving friend and teacher.

Carolyn graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1955 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She will always be remembered as the spelling queen of the family. Carolyn also volunteered at Novant Hospital, giving her time in service to others.

Carolyn is survived by her three loving children: Gary Pickett (Debbie), Sharon Woodell (Roger), and Steve Pickett (fiancée, Cindy Perdue) and her daughter-in-law, Trish Pickett.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jesse Player (Casey), Krista Rucker (Rob), Josh Pickett (Ruth), Kara McGinty (Tyler), Dayne Pickett (Jamie), and Dylan Pickett (Grayson); as well as her 17 precious great-grandchildren.

Her family will forever be grateful for her loving caregivers at Willow Grove: Barbara Johnson, Karen O’Kelly, Quelle Doby, and Barbara Thompson. They were considered family to Carolyn, and their loving care and devotion will always be remembered. The family is also deeply thankful to Novant Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Carolyn for two years.

Carolyn’s life was marked by faith, family, love, and service. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in the many lives she touched and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
