Charles and Ladelle attended and graduated from Taylorsville High School together in 1948. The couple continued dating for two and half years before marrying in December of 1950. In 1951, Charles joined the Marines Corps and the couple relocated to Washington, DC. Upon completion of his Marine Corp service, they moved to Douglas County, where Charles attended college at Georgia State University and graduated with a BS degree in accounting. Over the years he worked in data processing and accounting for Sears, Hartford Insurance Company, Amberlite Aluminum, Philadelphia Carpets, Lawtex Industries, Spring Mills and Floyd County. He was an excellent programmer, gardener and friend. During their 11 years in Douglas County, they had 3 daughters. In 1966, the couple fulfilled their dream to return back to Bartow County by buying a farm near Cassville, where they lived ever since. Charles’ hobbies of gardening and raising beautiful plants and flowers kept him busy well into retirement.
