Cherian Vellomchirayil Mathai

Cherian Vellomchirayil Mathai, age 80, passed away on August 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was a long-time resident of Philadelphia, PA. Cherian was born in Kerala, to parents V. C. Mathai and Mariamma Mathai. Cherian established a career as a Supervisor, working for Cardone Industries for over 25 years. He was very active in his church at St. Mary’s Cathedral. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies included gardening, being involved in prayer groups, and dedicating his life to his family. His love was towards his wife Annamma V. Cherian, with whom he spent 50 years. He is survived by his wife Annamma V. Cherian; daughter Julie Cherian Aprain; son Ginu Cherian; grandchildren Joshua Aprain and Nishal Cherian. The funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Malankara Orthodox Cathedral in Huntingdon Valley, PA.
