Clarence C Lock

Clarence Lock Sr., a beacon of kindness and joy, transitioned peacefully on July 9, 2026, at age 92. Born on November 27, 1933, in Sparkman, Arkansas, Clarence was the cherished son of Foster and Dreddie Lock. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and siblings, yet he leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

In 1953, Clarence moved to Tucson, Arizona, a city that would become his home and the backdrop for a life well lived. Before relocating, he attended school in his beloved Sparkman, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and growth. In Tucson, Clarence dedicated many years of service to the city, becoming a respected and admired employee who touched the lives of many through his work.

On February 16, 1955, Clarence married the love of his life, Dicie Goines, and together they shared 71 years of unwavering love and companionship. Their union was blessed with three children: Andrew (Brenda) of Manor, Texas; Janet Danyfield, whose beloved husband Eddie is deceased; and Clarence Jr. (Sharon) of Tucson, Arizona. Clarence's family continued to grow, bringing him joy, with 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and dedication he poured into his family.

Clarence, a man of deep faith, was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1954 at Faith Temple Church. He later became a dedicated member and Deacon at Greater Emmanuel Grace Apostolic Church, where he was affectionately known as Papa Lock. His spiritual journey continued at Apostolic Deliverance Ministry, where he remained a devoted member until his last breath.

Clarence's passions were as diverse as they were profound. He found joy in singing in a quartet and reveled in the beauty of the outdoors through fishing, hunting, picnics, vegetable gardening, and rose growing. An avid sports fan, he especially loved boxing and baseball, and he shared his enthusiasm by mentoring young men in Western Hills and Pueblo Gardens. His kindness and patience as a coach left a lasting impression on many who remember him fondly today.

His children recall a father who was always present and available, a great entertainer who kept the family laughing. His culinary skills were legendary, particularly his mastery of cooking fish, chicken, cornbread, potato salad, sweet potato pies, and the most incredible chili. Clarence's ability to bring people together with food and laughter was a gift that will be sorely missed. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know him.
