Claude Leslie Smith passed on May 20, 2026, at the age of 85.Visitation will be held at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home, 3201 Ave. B, Scottsbluff, Nebraska 69361, on May 27, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location on May 27, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
Graveside services will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 180398 Highway 26 Frontage Road, Scottsbluff, NE 69361, on May 28, 2026, at 12:00 pm with Military Honors.Born on November 22, 1940, in Angora, Nebraska, to his parents Alvin and Sara. He grew up alongside his brother, Marvin “Barney”, and his two sisters, Marge and Audrey.He was deeply proud of his service in the United States Army. A Vietnam War veteran, Claude spent part of his service stationed in Waco, Texas, with the “Hell On Wheels” division—an experience he carried with honor throughout his life.Claude was the father of two children, Russell and Alisa. Through his marriage to Bonnie, he was also a loving stepfather to Amy, Robert “Bobby”, and Jason.He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and hot rods, and he found great joy in the open road.Claude was equally proud of his years driving truck with Beacon Transport, where he built friendships and memories that stayed with him.He will be remembered for his grit, his loyalty, and the unmistakable spark he brought to every chapter of his life.Please visit http://www.DuganKramer.com to leave condolences and share photo memories.
