Colin J. McVeigh of New York City died on September 26, 2026, at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous 22-month battle with leukemia. He was 27.

Born on June 19, 1999, Colin grew up in New York City. His years at St. David’s School and Loyola School gave him lasting friendships and helped shape the thoughtful, curious person he became. At the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, he found another community and made memories he treasured throughout his life.

After graduation, Colin began his career at PwC in New York, becoming a Senior Associate in its Financial Markets & Real Estate practice. He was intelligent, disciplined, and ambitious, but his work was only one part of a life filled with people and interests he loved.

Colin had a remarkable gift for connecting with others. Fluent in English and Spanish, and conversational in French, Tagalog, and Tamil, he learned languages out of a genuine curiosity about people and cultures. Wherever he went, he found a way to make a connection.

He served on the junior boards of the Inner-City Scholarship Fund and the American Cancer Society. In October 2025, he received the American Cancer Society’s Tomorrow’s Trailblazer Award. Colin was also a member of the New York Athletic Club and an avid golfer and skier.

Colin loved to travel. He researched the places he visited, sought out local restaurants and experiences, and delighted in sharing what he discovered. His curiosity took him around the world, and his warmth turned encounters into friendships across borders, cultures, and generations.

Above all, Colin made people feel welcome, valued, and understood. He was a beloved son, brother, family member, friend, and colleague. His kindness, humor, and genuine interest in others changed the lives of those who knew him.

Colin is survived by his parents, Elise and James McVeigh of North Palm Beach, Florida, and his loving sister, Annie, of New York City. His absence leaves an immeasurable void in their lives and in the lives of his many friends around the world.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Inner-City Scholarship Fund for the Colin James McVeigh Scholarship or to Blood Cancer United.
