Cory, age 31, of Watauga, Texas passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Cory was born Sept. 25, 1994, to Debra Lane and John Gruel.
He graduated from Central High School. Cory had a gentle heart. He was kind, caring, sensitive, and easy to talk to. People naturally liked him and he had a calm spirit that made others feel comfortable. He cared deeply about people and was intelligent and thoughtful. He also had a passion for video games and online gaming. We’ll always remember Cory’s sweet nature.
He is preceded in death by his father, John; and his grandparents, McKoy and Donna Lane.
Cory is survived by his mother, Debra; uncle, Bobby Lane; cousins, Amanda Johnson and her husband, Will, and Brandon Lane.
A Private Memorial Service will be held by Cory’s family at a later date.
