Daniel Ephraim Huffstetler, 84, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on July 10, 2026.
Born in Charlotte on June 22, 1942, Dan was the son of the late Charles H. and Lula G. Huffstetler. He graduated from Harding High School in 1960. Following high school, Dan joined the United States Air Force, where he served for four years as a member of a Combat Control Unit. He was also certified as an air traffic controller. After completing his military service, Dan graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1971 with a degree in Business Administration.
After college, Dan began working in the commercial mortgage business. Over the years, he gained valuable experience working with different companies in Charlotte, Columbia, and Birmingham before returning to Charlotte where he founded Huffstetler and Associates, Inc. in 1989.
Together with his wife, Charlene, Dan built a respected business based on dedication, loyalty, and a strong commitment to his clients. He was known for the loyalty he showed to those he served, and many of his professional relationships grew into lifelong friendships.
Dan will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, and a gift for storytelling, which brought laughter and joy to family and friends. He loved and was loved by both the Huffstetler and Anderson families. He cherished the many relationships, traditions, and memories they shared throughout the years.
One of his favorite times was the annual “Huffstetler Beach Week” at Ocean Isle Beach. Some of his fondest memories were the times spent with Brad and “The Fellas” on ski trips to Snowshoe and soccer games. He often said, “Those Were the Best Times.” Those trips began in middle school and continued through college and into adulthood, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
He is survived by his beloved wife and helpmate of 60 years, Charlene Anderson Huffstetler; his son, Bradley Anderson Huffstetler, of Grand Cayman Island; his sisters, Joan Ross of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Anne Harrelson of Charlotte, NC, and his sister-in-law, Mary of Raleigh, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Lula G. Huffstetler; his brothers Charles, Jr. and wife Freda; Robert and wife Kitty; and James; his sisters, Helen Campbell and husband Dick; Joyce Helms and husband Leland; his brothers-in-law, Reverend Jack Ross, and Dr. Henry Harrelson.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held in the upcoming weeks.
