Danny L. Culler

June 25, 2026 Louiseville, Quebec Dignity Memorial

Danny L. Culler, 78, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on June 25, 2026. Born August 26, 1947, Danny lived a life marked by duty, endurance, and steadfast devotion to those and things he loved. \nDanny was a Marine first, deploying for Vietnam on Halloween of 1967. He served as Military Police while a Marine, and was a survivor of the Battle of Hue in Vietnam, known by the code name “Sugar Bear.” After two terms as a Marine, he reenlisted in the Navy, later retiring after serving as a cook, and continued his pursuit for excellence competing in cooking competitions. His service was distinguished by sacrifice and courage, and he was a Double Purple Heart Recipient.\nIn 1985, Danny married his best friend, Lynda, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Vivian “Mackie” Culler.\nDanny is survived by his sisters, Patty June Dailey and Dana Bowman (Blair); his niece, Erin Bowman; his nephew, Grant Bowman; and his cousins who were more like sisters, Terrie Ann Hayhurst and Brenda Sellers; special acknowledgement to his Aunt Cathy Culler and numerous cousins, whom he loved.\nBeyond his years in uniform, Danny found deep satisfaction in the steady work of caring for living things. He had a true green thumb and was an avid gardener, with roses as his specialty. He perfected the peaches and creme rose—often insisting he invented it—an example of the pride he took in doing things well and in his own way.\nDanny and Lynda also bred and showed miniature pinschers and miniature greyhounds, and they were devoted advocates for rescues, offering time and care where it was needed most.\nCremation was chosen per Danny's wishes. Entombment to follow at a date to be announced at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.\nExpressions of sympathy in the memory of Danny, may be made to: Hildegard House, P.O. Box 5613, Louisville, Ky 40255 or any local Humane Society or Animal Shelter.
